Dalton Lester Rooks
Dalton Lester Rooks, 82, of Port St. Lucie, Florida died Tuesday, November 5, 2024, in his residence after an extended illness. The South Georgia native was born August 15, 1942 to James Dalton and Gladys Hall Rooks.
He graduated from Patterson High School in 1960 and worked on the family farm until 1969 when he moved to Fort Pierce, Florida to begin a career in citrus. He was active in the community and served as a deacon in Sunrise Tabernacle Church. He loved his church, hunting, and fishing but most of all he loved his family.
Survivors include his wife, Veronica Jane Rooks of Brunswick, Georgia; 2 children, a son and daughter-in-law, Alan Lester and Tiffany Rooks of Jacksonville, Florida; a daughter, Wendy Elaine Wisniewski of Port St. Lucie, Florida; 4 grandchildren, Dalton Alan Rooks, Jordan Delaney Rooks, Bailey Rebecca Rooks, and Jane Meredith Wisniewski; 1 great-grandchild, Finnick Allyn Rooks; 2 sisters, Adair Fryer of Nashville, Tennessee, Wanda Howard of Patterson, Georgia, 1 brother and sister-in-law, Randall and Reba Rooks of Snellville, Georgia; several nieces and nephews whom he loved like his own; and a few god children.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, November 10, 2024 at Sunrise Tabernacle Church with Rev. Alan Stevens officiating. Active pallbearers include: Dalton Alan Rooks, Wilson Dustin Rooks, James Dalton Rooks, Matthew Mosley, Taylor Connell, and Aaron Cook. Honorary pallbearers include: Charles Williams, Ronald Rhoden, Albert “Cowboy” Barrett, Ray Bullock, Earl Cummings, and Ted Orem.
Memorial contributions may be made to: Hospice of the Treasure Coast. Haisley Funeral & Cremation Services of Fort Pierce, Florida are in charge of funeral services.
