Damon “Sweet” G. Carta Sr., 47, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, October 31, 2025. He was born on January 9, 1978, in Louisville, to Anthony Carta II and Patricia Hancock Davis.
Sweet attended Atherton High School and was known for his strong work ethic and dedication to his craft. Over the years, he became highly skilled in roofing, maintenance, and carpentry—always willing to lend a hand or share his knowledge with others.
In his spare time, Sweet enjoyed playing poker, listening to old music, and fishing. He had a great sense of humor, a generous heart, and a love for life that was felt by everyone who knew him.
Sweet was deeply loved by his family and friends and will be profoundly missed.
Sweet is preceded in death by the mother of his children and longtime partner, Melissa Hubbard; father, Anthony Carta II; and sister, Sara Burden.
Left to cherish his memory, Sweet is survived by his mother, Patricia Hancock Davis; 3 children, Damon Carta Jr. (Sydney), Caden Carta, and Adelynn Carta; 7 siblings, Tony Carta III (Crystle), Dana Crabtree (Glenn), Jason Carta (Christy), Brandon Carta (Rachel), Adam Carta (Stephanie), Derrick Carta (Renee), and Nick Carta; 1 beloved cat, Beetles; and a host of extended family and close friends.
A funeral service for Mr. Damon “Sweet” G. Carta Sr. will be held at 2:00 PM, on Monday, November 10, 2025, at Louisville Memorial Gardens West Funeral Home, 4400 Dixie Highway, Louisville, Kentucky. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral service from 11:00 to 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Entombment will follow the funeral services at Louisville Memorial Gardens West Cemetery.
