Daniel Francis "Danny" Bennett

Daniel "Danny" Francis Bennett, 74, passed away Monday, October 6, 2025. Danny was born on March 16, 1951, in Chickasha, Oklahoma to Victor Wade and Rosalie Bennett. He grew up in Fletcher and graduated from Fletcher High School in 1969.
Known to most as "Uncle Danny" he was a life-long resident of Fletcher. He spent many years working at Delta Faucet in Chickasha before leaving to work in Lawton at Gibson's Meat Company, where he named himself the best meat cutter in the state of Oklahoma.
Danny was well known in the softball world as the best damn catcher around. Many, many weekends were spent on softball fields from Oklahoma to New Mexico and all the way up to South Dakota. Any chance he got, that is where you would find him.
Danny married Donna Fort on September 17, 2004, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
There will forever be an emptiness felt on Griffin Street in Fletcher, Oklahoma, especially in the Fall during OU Football Season and Halloween. His house was named OU Headquarters, and he never turned away an OU Fan, but if you showed up wearing orange you waited outside. His house was the go-to house for Halloween in Fletcher. Every year he would say I think this will be my last year and then he would always change his mind and say, "I can't quit. I have to do it for the kids."
He is survived by his wife, Donna, of the home; daughters: Shannon (Bennett) Gooday of Lawton, Francine Bennett of Lawton, Mandy Bennett of Lawton, Terrie Ann and Pat Bridges of Sterling, Cherie and Brandon Vanlandingham of Owasso; brothers: Keith Bennett, Mike Bennett, Geary Bennett, and Armand (Beet) Bennett; sisters: Vickie and Laverne Tahsequah, Paula and Jim Foster, and Sharon and Dwight Wolf; 15 grandkids; 8 great-grandkids; and an abundant amount of nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor Wade and Rosalie Bennett and his son, Daniel Bennett, Jr.
