Daniel Jack "Dan" Berlin, age 61, passed away on June 14, 2024, at Aurora BayCare Medical Center in Green Bay Wisconsin, due to complications from ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease).
He was born on July 24, 1962, in Sheboygan, WI to the late Jack and Betty (Hiltgen) Berlin. Dan graduated from North High in Sheboygan in 1981. At the time of his death Dan lived in Manitowoc WI with his girlfriend Christine Vander Bloomen who lovingly cared for him at home before his hospitalization. He was previously married to Kristi (Mihm) Tillman, his children's mother, currently of Elk City OK.
He retired from Kohler Power Systems in 2022 after 34 years of employment. Dan's passions included Hunting and fishing, repair and upgrades of Citizen Band radios, and working on his Pulling Truck, named Grandpa, as a family project with his brother, son, and nephews. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and enjoyed cheering them on with great enthusiasm. He enjoyed the simpler things in life and went out of his way to help those in need. He was always quick with a joke and loved spreading humor in the world. In his youth he enjoyed roller skating with his friends at Big Wheel in Sheboygan. Dan enjoyed singing Karaoke with friends and family. He would sing the meaningful songs of his youth with passion. Dan volunteered his time for many summers with local charities, and he helped spread Christmas joy in the winters to many families by portraying Santa Claus.
Dan is survived by his girlfriend Christine, his son Jacob Berlin (partner Gabrielle) of Newton WI, his daughter Amanda Berlin and grandson Austin Berlin both of Elk City OK, his sister; Jane Balcaitis of Appleton WI, his sister-in-law; Cheryl Berlin of Stockbridge WI, his nieces and nephews: Kelsey Balcaitis (partner Ian) of Appleton WI, Trevor Berlin (partner Hope) of Hortonville WI, Brenden Berlin (wife Paige) and their daughters Sophie and Kenzie of Greenville WI, and Serena Berlin (partner Josh) of Stockbridge WI. He was proceeded in death by his parents Jack and Elizabeth (Betty) Berlin, his brother Thomas (Tom) Berlin, and his niece Kerri Balcaitis.
We pray that he may he rest in peace and finally be free of pain. A Celebration of Dan's Life will be held on Saturday, June 29th at the Smiling Moose in Osman Wisconsin, from 2:00pm to 5:00pm. In lieu of flowers donations in Dan's name to www.ALS.org would be greatly appreciated. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Daniel, please visit our Tree Store.
