Rose M. Carlson, 86, of Gillett, found peace early Saturday morning, September 2, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family, following a short battle with cancer. Rose was born on March 16, 1937 in Sheboygan, daughter of the late William and Rose (Richter) Grunow. On November 2, 1984 she married Carl Carlson in Shawano County. He preceded her in death on February 5, 2011. Rose was employed at the Plywood in Gillett and then with Linwood in Mosling. She liked to play on her iPad, tend to her flowers, do word searches and put together puzzles. Rose made a diamond art picture for all of her children. She was a 56 year member of Bethel Lutheran Church, where she enjoyed sewing quilts and serving at funerals. Rose is survived by her children and their spouses: Gordy and Kim Carlson, Oconto Falls, Julie and Tim Nischke, Krakow, Cheryl and Frank Schroeder, Cecil, Ann and Jim Schultz, Dale and Kathy Carlson, Lee and Renee Carlson, all of Gillett; 13 grandchildren: Michael (Christina) Carlson, Lisa (Bret) Schaal, Eric (Heather) Nischke, Keith Schroeder, Kevin (Kim) Schroeder, Kurt (special friend Amanda) Schroeder, Brian (special friend Michelle) Schultz, Beth Schultz, Brad (Kim) Schultz, Jennifer (Brandon) Kempf, Daniel (Angela) Carlson, Tommy Carlson, Willy Carlson; four step-grandchildren: Keith and Michelle Flynn & Jason and Lisa Flynn; 24 great-grandchildren: Dante (special friend Tori) Carlson, Cody & Elizabeth Carlson, Alissa & Ashley Nischke, Kaitlyn (Taylor) Bailey, Karissa (special friend Brice) & Karter Schroeder, Kody & Kayla Schroeder, Kennedy & Karl Schroeder, Patrick Schultz, Nicholas & Landon Schultz, Colton & Gunner Schultz, Kallie, Nathan, Haley & Olivia Christensen, Josephine & Vivienne Carlson, and Everett Worden; five step-great-grandchildren: Aiden, Aubrey & Ainsley Flynn, Kade & Magnus Flynn; three great-great-grandchildren: Raelynn & Brooklyn Bailey and Aria Carlson. She is further survived by a sister: Mary Ann Lampe; a sister-in-law: Irene Grunow; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: William and Rose Grunow; one great-grandson: Wyatt Schaal; an infant son: Daniel Charles Carlson; five brothers: William, Karl, Gerald, Ronald & Frederick; eight sisters: Irene, Betty, LaVerne, Dorothy, Delores, Carol, Shirley & Brenda. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at Bethel Lutheran Church, N6955 Cty Rd BB, Cecil. Officiating at the service will be Rev. Keith Sorlie with burial to follow at Wanderers Rest Cemetery, Gillett. Visitation will be held at Bethel Lutheran Church on Saturday morning, September 9, 2023 from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM. The Kuehl Funeral Home, 108 E Main St. Gillett, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
