In Loving Memory of Daniel Cupit Jr.

Daniel or better known as Danny by his friends, whose life was a beautiful melody of kindness, laughter, music and song, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 10, 2025 @ 1:48am @ St. Francis Hospital in Monroe, Louisiana at the age of 61 after a 6 month battle with cancer. From the moment he first picked up an instrument, music became the language through which he shared his soul with the world. Whether strumming his guitar & singing, playing with his long-time band "Backroads", composing parody tunes, or filling friends & family gatherings with joyful harmonies, he had a gift for turning moments into memories.

Beyond his musical talent, Daniel was a devoted brother, always ready with a listening ear, a warm smile and jokes to bring you out of any mood you were in. His rhythm was steady, his heart was generous, and his presence brought harmony to every room he entered. Though his song on earth has ended, its echoes will forever play in the hearts of those who loved him.

Daniel was born in Ferriday, LA on September 7, 1964, to Danny Cupit & Charlotte Buckles Cupit. Growing up Daniel followed in the footsteps of many Cupit family members by gifting everyone with his musical talent for singing, playing the guitar & drums and writing music. He was very involved in First Baptist Church of Ferriday music program while growing up and became an intricate part of the Youth Ensemble during his Jr. High & High School Years. He started his 1st band at the age of 16 and continued to play with most of the same members throughout his adult life. After graduating from Ferriday High School in 1982, Daniel moved to Atlanta GA to pursue a musical career. After many years and the death of our father, Daniel moved back to Ferriday to support & be near remaining family members. His love & devotion to his music touched many lives and brought many people in the area so much joy. In July 2025, Daniel was diagnosed with terminal cancer and was prepared to fight it full fledge. He fought a tremendously good fight, but God took him home & brought him the peace that he needed mentally and physically.

Daniel made the choice years ago to be Cremated @ Youngs Funeral Home Ferriday. There will be a Memorial Service celebrating and honoring his life @ the Ferriday Music Theater, Ferriday, LA on Sunday, December 14, 2025, from 11am-3pm. Attendees / Musicians are welcome to bring their musical instruments for a potential "Jam Session". Food Donations for the Memorial are welcome as well.
