William Dennis Thomas Jr.

Funeral services for William Dennis Thomas, Jr., 95, of Ferriday, LA will be held at Ferriday Methodist Church on Monday, April 28, 2025 at 11AM with Pastor Steve McDonald officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Natchez, MS under the direction of Young's Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the church from 10AM until the time of the service at 11AM.
Dennis was born on Thursday, March 6, 1930 in Meridian, MS and passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2025 in Jonesville, LA. He graduated from Ferriday High School in 1947 and went on to attend ULM in Monroe for one year. On November 11, 1950, Dennis enlisted in the United States Air Force and served for three years in Darmstadt and Landsberg, Germany, as a Cryptographic Operator with the 6910th Air Force Security Group, where he was the last surviving member. He was part of the team that helped establish the United States Air Force Security Service in 1951 during the early years of the Cold War.
After being honorably discharged on September 1, 1954, Dennis enrolled at Northwestern State University, where he earned his Master of Education in 1962. He dedicated 32 years to the Concordia Parish School System as a Business Education teacher at Ferriday High School and also served as assistant principal for several years. Additionally, he coordinated the school's work-study program for seniors, allowing them to attend school for half the day and work in local business offices during the other half.
Beyond his work in education, Dennis was a skilled tax accountant and real estate broker for 46 years.
A devoted member of Ferriday Methodist Church, Dennis served on numerous committees and was Chairman of the Administrative Council for two years.
He is reunited with his parents, William "WD" Dennis Thomas, Sr. and Eula Mae Cain Thomas; sister, Louise Wright; good friends, O'Dare Hammett, Bobby Marks, and Micky Gilley.
Those left behind to cherish Dennis's memories are the love of his life of 70 years, Jean Knight Thomas; daughter, Linda Morgan & her husband Todd of Ferriday, LA; son, Jimmy Thomas of Poncha Springs, CO; grandson, Ream Thomas of Savannah, GA; granddaughter, Emma Thomas of Savannah, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Those honoring Dennis as pallbearers will be Bill Corbett, Robert McClatchy, John Rife, Ream Thomas, Victor Cross and Wilson Knight.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Kevin Ingram, Chris Vaughn, Greg Brooking and Dr. Robert Freman.
