We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Daniel G. Felker, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a true friend. Born in West Virginia, Daniel left us in
Newburgh, Indiana, surrounded by his loving family. His life, defined by kindness, joy, and an unwavering commitment to family and community, has left a lasting legacy of generosity and love.
Dan's early life in West Virginia profoundly shaped his empathetic nature and dedication to helping others. His deep patriotism and love for his country were evident in his honorable service in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. A dedicated Republican, Dan was steadfast in his beliefs and values, including a strong respect for the Second Amendment, which he saw as a fundamental part of American liberty.
Following his military service, Dan joined Boilermaker Local #374 and later founded Sterling Boiler and Mechanical in
Evansville, Indiana. Despite leading a thriving business with over 1500 employees, he humbly referred to himself as 'just a dumb old boilermaker'. His incredible business acumen was evident in the way he invested in his employees, treating them like family and ensuring their well-being and fairness.
A devout Catholic, Dan's faith was a guiding force in his acts of kindness and generosity. He had a special bond with children and babies, sharing in their laughter and joy, especially through his Santa Clothes Club, which brought Christmas cheer to underprivileged children, reflecting his own humble beginnings.
Dan's zest for life was also expressed in his passions. He was a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, a great dancer, classic car aficionado, and an avid motorcycle enthusiast and boater. He also had a deep love for golf, enjoying the challenge and camaraderie it brought.
A haven for Dan was Lake Barkley, a place of peace and relaxation, contrasting with his dynamic and energetic lifestyle.
He shared a life filled with love and laughter with his beloved wife of 26 years, Rhonda, a relationship built on mutual respect, love, and shared values.
Dan's impact extended beyond his immediate circle; he inspired everyone he met with his wisdom, tenacity, and respect for individual freedoms. As we bid farewell, we celebrate a life richly lived, filled with love, laughter, faith, and an incredible spirit of generosity. His kindness, memory of laughter, and legacy of inspiring others will continue to guide us. His goodness and light will forever shine in the hearts of those who knew him.
Dan is survived by the love of his life, Rhonda Felker; children, Daniel B. Felker (Katie), Michell Ellis (Rick), Sevreanna Felker, and Michael Felker, along with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
