Daniel (Danny) James Gilliland, 69, passed away peacefully on Friday,May 24, 2024 at Serenity Hospice in Hamilton, NJ, surrounded by his loving family. Danny was a licensed plumber for 37 years and was a member of the Local 9 Plumbers Union. Danny wore many hats during his lifetime. He was a licensed pyrotechnician with International Fireworks Manufacturing Company and Garden State Fireworks. Danny was also an EMT, volunteer firefighter with Enterprise Fire Co. and he was a recipient of Mercer County and New Jersey State Fire Chief's Award for Valor. Danny was a little league coach in Hamilton, NJ for both HTRBA and HGSA. Danny enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, gardening, watching black and white movies, war movies and westerns. His favorite pastime was spending time with his grandsons. He enjoyed watching baseball games, especially the Boston Red Sox, watching horse racing and loved betting on the Kentucky Derby. Danny played softball for a few different local recreational leagues including Parkside Memorial Home in Ewing, NJ.
Predeceased by his father; Floyd Gilliland and mother; Lorraine Leonard, he leaves to cherish wonderful memories to his wife Christina (Solinsky) Gilliland, sons; Brian Gilliland and wife Lora, Matthew Gilliland and wife Rebecca, and his daughter; Joanna Glahn and husband Matthew. He leaves his four wonderful grandsons Daniel, Julian, Grady Gilliland and Joseph Glahn. He also leaves his brothers; Donald Gilliand and wife Cheryl, and David Gilliland. Also, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews as well as many great friends.
The Gilliland family wishes to extend its heartfelt thanks to the staff at Robert Wood Johnson hospital and Serenity Hospice in Hamilton, NJ.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 from 9:00AM to 12PM at the Hamilton Brenna Cellini Funeral Home, 2365 Whitehorse-Mercerville Road, Hamilton, NJ 08619. Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Red Cross, 707 Alexander Road Suite 101, Princeton, NJ 08540, and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
