Daniel R. "Dan" Gonyeau, 76, passed away Monday, January 23, 2023.
He was born in Burlington, Vermont on October 2, 1946 and son of the late Robert Edward Gonyeau and Hilda Beatrice Gravelle Gonyeau. Following high school graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served 3 years, 8 months and 13 days. He met and married the love of his life, Linda Faye McInnis on August 20, 1965. Dan loved to watch tv and play poker.
Preceded in death by his parents and wife, Linda Gonyeau and granddaughter, Holly Michelle Gonyeau. Surviving family include 4 sons: Danny (Dawn) Gonyeau, Ronnie Gonyeau, Mark (Sam) Gonyeau and Chris (Andrea) Gonyeau; 11 grandchildren: Heather (Josh) Tison, Hannah (Thomas) Mizell, Stephanie Gonyeau (Lonnie), Heather Crews, Jonathan Lhotka, Matthew (Jessie) Gonyeau, Jonathan (Melodie) Gonyeau, Zachary Gonyeau, Michelle (Peyton) Cannon, Andrew Gonyeau and Austin Gonyeau; 14 great grandchildren: Liam, Sophia, Skylar, Riley, Braylen, Alaina, Hayleigh, Isabella, Rebecca, Brianna, Jonah, Maleah, AJ and Brayden; 1 sister: Elaine Williams; 1 brother: Terry (Su) Gonyeau and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
Graveside funeral service will be held at 12:30 PM on Thursday, January 26, 2023 at Jacksonville National Cemetery, with Rev. Bobby Mullaly, officiating and Military Honors.
His family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at Peeples Funeral Home, 14165 N. Main Street.
