Gephart Funeral Home - Bay CityThe unexpected passing of Daniel “Ski” Gudschinsky, age 77, of Bay City, Michigan, on July 8, 2025, has left a profound void in the lives of his family, friends, and the veteran community he served so selflessly. Born on April 25, 1948, Ski proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, where he was awarded the Purple Heart for his bravery and sacrifice. A lifelong advocate for his fellow veterans, he co-founded the Proud Veterans Motorcycle Club, dedicating himself to helping others secure housing, healthcare, and support long after their service ended. Ski also had a deep passion for martial arts, achieving the rank of Chief in Tae Kwon Do. Through decades of teaching and mentorship, he instilled discipline, confidence, and strength in countless students. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara Gudschinsky, who passed less than a year before him. He is survived by his loving daughters, Tracy Gudschinsky and Nicole Gudschinsky, and two grandsons, Darien King and Kamden Johnson, with whom he shared a special bond. Ski was not only a protector of his country but of his family — a role he cherished most. There will be a celebration of life on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at Monitor Township Hall in Bay City. A motorcycle procession will bring Dan (Ski) to the hall at 1pm for visitation with the family. The service will begin at 2pm with dinner to follow. If you would like to ride your motorcycle in the procession please reach out to Gephart Funeral Home for contact information. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the wishes of the family. Ski will be remembered for his strength, his service, and his endless willingness to help others — always ready to give the shirt off his back to someone in need. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched, the veterans he championed, and the family who loved him deeply.
