Funeral service for Daniel B. Hicks, age 87, of Sulphur Springs, Texas will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 31, 2024 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home with Bro. David Joslin officiating. There will be a Private Interment at Restlawn Memorial Park with Kade Koon, Chase Koon, Blake Sewell, Asa Joslin, Mike O’Dell, Jake Murray, Anthony Mowrer, and Barry Smith serving as pallbearers. Mr. Hicks passed away at his home on Monday, October 28, 2024.
Daniel B. Hicks was born on June 14, 1937 in Greenpond, Texas to George and Dera (Hawk) Hicks. Being named with only the initial “B” as his middle name Daniel decided as a young boy to make the “B” stand for Boone and he became know as Daniel Boone Hicks. He married Gail Gregg in Mahoney, Texas on June 20, 1969. Daniel was a rancher and member of the National Guard.
Daniel is survived by his wife, Gail Hicks of Sulphur Springs, Texas; son, Bill Sewell (Sherry) of Rowlett, Texas; daughter, Miki Koon (Kris) of Emory, Texas; son, Todd Hicks (Randa) of Pickton, Texas; grandchildren, Kade Koon, Chase Koon, Anjelica Sewell, Tori Sewell, Blake Sewell, and Breanna Peterson; and brother, Travis Hicks (Mary) of Garland, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Dera Hicks; brother, Don Hicks (Sherron, and grandson, Carson Hicks. It gives our family great comfort knowing Carson was waiting at Heaven’s gate for Pop. We know they are talking cows and horses again.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to the Carson Hicks Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Amarillo National Bank, Attn: Brad Johnson, P.O. Box 1, Amarillo, TX 79105.
