Daniel J. Krause, 75, of Bark River, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at his home of natural causes.
He was born on May 30, 1949 in Dagget, MI, son to John "Jack" and Elaine (Dahl) Krause.
Daniel was a life long resident of Bark River and attended Bark River Harris High School and graduated in 1967. He spent one year at Michigan Tech before he was drafted into the Army.
He was drafted into the Army and served during the Vietnam War. Dan earned multiple medals and awards while serving as an army transporter. He was honorably discharged in March of 1971.
Dan owned and operated Krause Lumber in Bark River for many years.
Dan loved anything and everything about golf. He loved being on the course, talking about it, and even watching it on tv. He took several golf trips in his life, including trips to Europe. He also enjoyed riding and building motorcycles in his younger years. Dan was very knowledgeable about local history and had a remarkable memory. He was a member of the Highland Golf Club, Bark River Legion, and Salem Lutheran Church in Bark River.
Among survivors include his sisters, Bette Lu Krause of Ocean Park, WA and Julie (Jim) Williams of Superior, WI; nephews, Scott (Janelle Back) Williams and Shawn (Jennifer) Williams; great-niece, Oakley; great-nephews, Reggie and Toby; aunt, Geraldine Krause; and many loved cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A celebration of life will take place at Salem Lutheran Church in Bark River on Saturday, May 24, 2025 from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. (EST) in the church hall.
Burial will take place in Bark River Twp. Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that any memorials to be directed to assist with funeral expenses. A donation can be made by visiting www.crawfordfuneralhomes.net and using the Tribute Fund Tab.
