Janet M. "Jan" LaVigne, 77, of Bark River, passed away the early morning of Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at Cedar Hill Assisted Living with loving family by her side.
Jan was born in Escanaba on April 10, 1948, daughter of Alfred and Norma (Larson) LaVigne. She was raised in Schaffer and attended Holy Name High School while graduating in 1966.
She worked at OSF St. Francis Hospital in various clerical positions before she retired in May of 2011.
Jan was a devoted member of St. Anne's Church in Escanaba.
She loved attending auctions and enjoyed decorating, making stain glass sun catchers, and working in her flower garden.
Among survivors include her son, Todd Lantagne; grandchildren, Ashley, Nick, Alex, and Molly Lantagne; six great-grandchildren; and siblings, Charles (Joyce) LaVigne, Bev Goodreau, Pat (Paul) Cayer, James (Uni) LaVigne, and Theresa (Butch) Olson.
Along with her parents, Jan is preceded in death by her son, Brent Lantagne; sister, Rosie Buckland; and brothers-in-law, Don Goodreau and Jim Buckland.
Visitation will take place at St. Anne's Church, 817 S Lincoln Rd, Escanaba, MI 49829, on Monday, May 12, 2025, starting at 10:30 a.m. until 12 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow the visitation at noon with Rev. Fran DeGroot officiating. A luncheon will be offered in the church hall after the mass.
Jan will be laid to rest at the Gardens of Rest Cemetery.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Robbie and staff at Cedar Hill for the love and care that they provided to Jan and her family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Delta Animal Shelter, 6975 County 426 M.5 Rd, Escanaba, MI 49829 or St. Vincent de Paul food pantry, 1014 Ludington St, Escanaba, MI 49829.
