Daniel "Dan" Leach, an all-around great guy whose love, laughter, and unforgettable memories touched so many lives, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2025, in Cleveland, OH. Born on July 17, 1954, in Dubois, PA, Dan's life was a rich journey of hard work, passion, and true connections.
A proud graduate of Chardon High School, Dan's career as a pipe welder was shaped by the guidance of his father, Robert, who taught him the craft. Under his father's watchful eye, Dan perfected his skills and went on to become a respected member of Local 860. He also built a successful business with DL Welding, showcasing his talent and entrepreneurial spirit.
Outside of work, Dan had a zest for life that was contagious. He was an active member of the Chardon Eagles FOE 2261. He also had a true passion for restoring and collecting classic cars, trucks, and tractors, pouring his heart into bringing them back to life. He also loved riding UTVs, golfing, and touring wineries, often with family and friends by his side. Dan's cabin in Pennsylvania, where he was a proud member of the Fryburg Sportsman's Club, and their Florida cabin, were always filled with joy and laughter. Winters in Florida were especially memorable, with hours spent at John's Outpost Tiki Bar (where he even had his own chair with his name on it), enjoying airboat rides, and making cherished memories with friends.
Dan's warmth, generosity, and kindness made him a friend to all who knew him. His love for life was infectious, and he had a way of making everyone feel welcome and at ease. Whether at a family gathering or with friends, Dan's presence turned any moment into a celebration.
A special thank you to Bill Hummel, whose generous act of donating his kidney extended Dan's life. Bill's kindness gave Dan more time to enjoy the company of his loved ones and create even more cherished memories.
Dan is survived by his devoted wife, Jeri Lynn, and their son, Douglass Anderson, along with his grandchildren-Dustyn (Amanda), Corbyn, Masyn, Havynn, and Asher Anderson-and great-grandson Carter. He is also mourned by his brothers, Robert (Marie) and James Leach. Dan now joins his parents, Robert M. and Lois Leach, and siblings, Nancy and David, who welcomed him with open arms.
While we will miss him dearly, we take comfort in the rich legacy he leaves behind. Dan's spirit lives on in the stories we share, the memories we hold, and the love he gave so freely. Rest in peace, Dan. You were truly one of a kind, and you'll never be forgotten.
Dan was not a "funeral kind of guy". Per his wishes, the family will be hosting a Celebration of Life in his honor on Saturday, September 13, 2025. Please contact the family for details. Arrangements are entrusted to Burr Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.burrservice.com.
