Daniel J. Loftis, 99 of Cookeville, Tennessee passed from this life on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at his home.
Daniel was born Tuesday, October 13, 1925, in Gainesboro, Tennessee, and he was the son of the late Noah Lee Loftis and the late Cora C. (Chaffin) Loftis.
Daniel was a loving son, brother, husband, father, Pa, uncle, and friend. He attended Algood Church of Christ for 67 years and served as an elder for 30-plus years. He proudly served as a draftee in the United States Army. He was a skilled carpenter for most of his life and his specialty was bringing old things back to new, especially log cabins. Daniel was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.
Daniel is survived by, Daughter, Joan Whitson, and her husband, Jere; Son, Ronald Dale Loftis, and his wife, Barbara; 8 Grandchildren, Amelia Loftis, Anita Loftis, Maridy Carpenter, and her husband, Joseph, Jere (Jay) Whitson, and his wife, Leslie, Jonothan Whitson, and his wife, Devin, Daniel Loftis, Joshua Loftis, and his wife, Bethany, and Denise Reflexia; 17 Great-Grandchildren; Sister, Vada Lee Burch; A host of great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.
In addition to his parents, Daniel was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Edith (Gentry) Loftis; 10 Siblings, Sarah Belle Loftis, Donald Everett Loftis, Vela Alice Lester, Beulah Jane Gentry, Jimmy Oliver Loftis, Doliver Brinton Loftis, Della Mae Graham, Vola Norton, Lola Frances Howe, and Georgia Lanell Fox; Grandson, Caleb Allen Loftis; Great-Grandson, Quinton Loftis.
Funeral Service for Daniel J. Loftis will be held Friday, December 27, 2024, at 11:00 am from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home with Bros. Bobby Rothfus, Don Loftis, and John Chowning officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in the Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation with the family will be held Thursday, December 26, 202,4 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and again, Friday, December 27, 202,4 from 10:00 am until the time of service at Crest Lawn Funeral Home.
