Daniel Munger

Daniel Irvin Munger passed away peacefully on July 8, 2024.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Linda Kay Munger, of Round Rock, Texas; son James Daniel Munger and wife Deanna of Austin, Texas; son William Carl "Bill" Munger of Round Rock, Texas; brother Laddie Leon Munger and wife Edna of Cary, North Carolina; sister Lorraine Munger Minor of Overland Park, Kansas; nephew Scott Leon Munger and wife Meredith of Dodd City, Texas; nephew Steven Kent Munger, of Raleigh, North Carolina; nephew Nathan Andrew Munger and wife Christina of Raleigh, North Carolina; and many cousins from across the United States.
Two grandsons, Zachary Emerson Munger and Samuel Alton Munger, brought great joy into his life and into the Munger home.
Daniel was born to Leon Alton Munger and Dollie Violet Munger in Elmwood Park, Illinois, on May 5, 1938.
He graduated from Southwest Missouri State College in 1961 and was commissioned second lieutenant in the US Army. After two years of active duty, he worked as a teacher in Missouri, Illinois, and Texas. During these years he also earned graduate degrees from the University of Missouri, Indiana University, and the University of Texas at Austin. In 2022, he completed a fifty-year career teaching at the high school and collegiate levels. Most recently, he served the Round Rock community as a faculty member of Round Rock ISD's Success High School. He described his time at this school, which is dedicated to dropout prevention, as the best teaching job he ever had.
He was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ, and in recent years he served as an elder for the University Avenue Church of Christ in Austin, Texas.
In all his days, Dan was dedicated to his family, his church, and his profession. He devoted his life to the service of others and living out the example of unconditional love set by his Lord Jesus Christ.
Please join the family Saturday, July 13, 2024 for visitation from 9:00 am - 11:00 am and Memorial Service to begin at 11:00 am; reception to follow. Beck Funeral Home, 4765 Priem Ln., Pflugerville, Texas.
