Daniel Fisher Olander

Dan, 92, of Rockville, Maryland, passed on from this life February 14, 2024. He was born September 15, 1931 in Brandon, Mississippi and grew up in Morgan City, Mississippi where he lived until he left for college. Being so outgoing, Dan never met a stranger. He had friends all over the globe and was loved by many. Dan was preceded in death by his mother and father, Ruth and Rev. C.J. Olander, three siblings, Mary Jo Dacus, John, and his twin brother, Bob. He was survived by many nieces and nephews. Dan received a bachelor's degree from Baylor University in Waco, Texas and a masters from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. He served in churches until 1982, in Shreveport, Houston and in Washington D.C. area; in 1975 he joined the Red Cross and served in Vietnam and Germany. Then returned to church work until, of 1982 when began working for the Sergeant of Arms at the US Senate. A memorial service will be at 2:00 PM, Thursday, February 29, 2024 at Fourth Presbyterian Church in Bethesda, MD. At a later date, Dan's remains will be buried next to his mother and father in Canton, Mississippi.
