He was born on October 2, 1981 in Roaring Spring, Pennsylvania to Ronald and Marsha (Grove) Smith of Martinsburg, PA.
Dan graduated Central High School in Martinsburg, PA and was a grape farmer at Burnham Family Farms in North East.
He was a member of Orchard Beach Assembly and the Horticultural Society.
Dan enjoyed watching his sons play sports, grape farming, hunting, smoking foods, and was an avid Buffalo Bills fan.
He is survived by his parents; wife of 20 years, Allison (Burnham) Smith whom he married June 12, 2004; sons, Korbin and Parker Smith; sisters, Barbara Woodring (Daniel), Heidi Malinowski (Matt), and Taylor Kinnear (Josh); father and mother-in-law, Rick and Donna Burnham; and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street, North East on Sunday October 6th from 3:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. and are invited to attend a Funeral Service on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Orchard Beach Assembly, 2025 Orchard Beach Road, North East. Private interment will be held at North East Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Orchard Beach Assembly. Please send condolences to elkinfh.com.

Great man, great neighbor and even better father. Though I did not know him as well as others. As his neighbor I saw all of those things. I wouldn´t have my new driveway w out his help. My love and prayers are with Allison and the boys. Heaven got a great angel.

Dan was a special friend. He and his boys came out often to fish my pond. I always admired his devotion to his family and being a special father to his kids. His family, the Burnhams, manages my vineyard and Dan was always one I could reach out to to get the latest news on what was going on in the vineyard. This man had the heart of the Lord and I will always cherish our interactions. My special prayers to Allison and the boys and the rest of the family because you we have been blessed by one of a kind. I will always miss you Dan!
