Danny W. Dowd, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on September 23, 2023, in Saginaw, Michigan. Born on June 11, 1955, in Bay City, Michigan, to the late Earl and J. Gloria (Edmonds) Dowd, Danny lived a life filled with love, laughter, and a relentless passion for his interests. Danny graduated from Pinconning Area High School in 1973. He was a dedicated worker and spent 30 years at Wirts, where he was a respected member of the Teamsters local. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to become the owner of Teeters Party Store from 1994 to 2005. His dedication to his work was matched only by his commitment to his family and his love for life. On June 11, 1983, Danny married the love of his life, Katherine "Kathy" (Kiczenski) Dowd, at St. Anne Catholic Church in Linwood, Michigan. Their love story was one of great affection and mutual respect. They were blessed with a beautiful daughter, DeNae Dowd, who inherited her father's kindness and love for family. Danny had a zest for life that was infectious. His interests included drag racing, fishing, hunting, and most importantly, spending time with his family, especially his cherished granddaughters Rhiannon and Cristal. His love for these activities was only surpassed by the love he had for his family. His kindness, loving nature, and thoughtfulness will be remembered by all who knew him.
Besides his wife of 40 years Kathy and daughter DeNae, Danny is survived by his siblings Randy, (Becca Julian) Dowd, Chris Dowd, Jodie (Bob) Fletcher; stepbrothers Jeff (Tammy) Eilf, and Tim Eilf. His stepmother Laura Dowd, stepsister Kim Benmark, sisters-in-law Elaine (Mark) Keith, Tina Flook, Treni Foster, Cindy Kiczenski, and brother-in-law David (Dawn) Kiczenski also survive him. He also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews, Samatha, Patricia, Faith, Carol, Lori, Dana, Donald, Kevin, Ty, Patrick, Tony, Ben, Nick, Danielle Cory, Cameron, Eric, and Jack whom will miss his warm smile and kind heart. Danny was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Benny Dowd, sister Sally Dowd, brother-in-law Allan Kiczenski, and nephews Andy, Eric and Allan Jr. Despite these losses, his memory will live on in the hearts of his loved ones.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at 11:00 AM from Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home - Pinconning Chapel, with Pastor Roger Bauer presiding, with burial in St. Michael's cemetery. The family will greet family and friends on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, from 1:00 - 7:00 PM at Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home and on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
