Danny David Horton, born on February 9, 1953, in Hohenwald, Tennessee, passed away on May 28, 2025. He was a cherished independent insurance agent who made significant contributions to his field and demonstrated unwavering dedication to his community and family.
Danny was the son of the late Edward and Mary Lois Reaves Horton. He was preceded in death by his brother, Donnie Horton, and sister, Paulette Bratcher.
A graduate From University of Tennessee at Martin, with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and Sociology. Danny's education laid the foundation for his successful career as an independent insurance agent.
In addition to his professional life, Danny thrived in the beauty of nature. He enjoyed hiking, being outdoors, and traveling, finding joy in exploring the world around him and sharing those experiences with loved ones. He was also a devoted member of Belle Aire Baptist Church.
Danny leaves behind his loving wife of fifty years, June Horton of Murfreesboro, Tennessee. He is also survived by his children: April Horton and Shannon of Millbrook, New York. Nathan Horton and his wife Carey of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; Erin Cooley and her husband Greg of Arrington, Tennessee; Additionally, his memory will be lovingly cherished by his sisters Deborah Hester of Russellville, Alabama, and Jeanette Sherrill of Collinwood, Tennessee. Danny adored his grandchildren: Leanna Edwards, Landon Horton, Sophie LaDeau, Kilian Whitford, Katie Cooley, and Grayson Cooley, who brought endless joy to his life. He is remembered by his special friend Adam Whitford and child Skylar. Along with a host of precious nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Collinwood, Tennessee, on June 2, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at the same location starting at 2:00 PM, Internment being at Cromwell Crossroads Cemetery.
