James Michael "MM" Melson, aged 69, of Collinwood, TN, passed away on July 13, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on March 20, 1956, in Waynesboro, TN, the son of the late Jessie Jay and Mary Bell Robbins Melson. On July 1, 2006, James found his soulmate in Jennifer Kay Krout, and together they created a life filled with love and laughter.
James dedicated many years of his life as a truck driver, a role that took him on many journeys. A beloved member of his community, James attended Williams Chapel in Collinwood, TN.
James had a passion for the great outdoors, finding joy in pulling trucks, gardening, wild hog hunting, swimming in the creek, and fishing. He was an all-out country boy at heart.
He leaves behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and unforgettable memories that will be cherished by all who knew him. James Michael Melson will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for the joy he brought into the lives of others.
He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Jennifer Kay Krout Melson of Collinwood, TN; daughter, Brandi Krout of Collinwood, TN; son, Jeff Foster (Jeandy) of Denver, CO; sister, Wanda Kay Robertson (Harold) of Collinwood, TN; nieces, Amy Robertson Daniel, and Ashlee Sherrill (Brandon); great nephews, Chandler Daniel (Brandie), Chase Daniel (Mallory) and Case Sherrill; and great-great niece and nephew, Emma Kate Daniel, and Whitley Daniel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie Jay and Mary Bell Robbins Melson.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm service time at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Collinwood, TN.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at 2:00 pm at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Collinwood, TN with Camryn Eaton and Greg Eaton officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Hebron Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Eli McCurry, Gunner Rich, Ricky Wright, Kyle Wood, Ernest McCurry and Brice McCurry. Honorary: David Daniel and Steve Stooksberry.
