It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Shirley Mae Staggs Pierce, age 86, who left this world on August 21, 2025. She was born on October 16, 1938, in Collinwood, TN, Shirley was the cherished daughter of the late James Mack and Frankie Belle Staggs. Her life was a beautiful testament to hard work and devotion, as she dedicated many years to her profession as an accountant with the Watkins Johnsey Professional Group PC in Florence, AL.
Shirley's faith and community were central to her life. She began her spiritual journey as a member of College View Church of Christ in Florence, AL, and later found her place among the warmhearted congregation at College Place Church of Christ in Lawrenceburg, TN. Her unwavering faith was a guiding light for her family and friends.
Shirley's legacy lives on through her loving family. She is survived by her sons, James Mosley of Lawrenceburg, TN, and Bobby Mosley (Pam) of Spring Hill, KS; her daughter, Michelle Merchant (Kin) of Florence, AL; along with her grandchildren, Kindall Merchant, Amanda Mosley, and Marissa Mosley; and a great grandchild, Brentley Cheek.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Mack and Frankie Belle Staggs; her daughter, Juanita Tefteller; her grandchildren, Deven Merchant and Charity Cheek; and her brother, Travis Staggs.
Family and friends are invited to honor Shirley's memory during a graveside service on Monday, August 25, 2025, at 11:00 am at Memorial Gardens of Wayne County in Collinwood, TN with Kenny Moorer officiating, with burial to follow.
Pallbearers will be Kindall Merchant, Mason Malone, Bobby Mosley, Terrence Merchant, John Shands, and Little John Skillen.
