Danny Lee Lewis, age 79, of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, passed away on March 18, 2024, at MyMichigan-Sault with his family by his side. He was born on April 13, 1944, in Rochester, New York, to Eugene and Dorothy (Weeks) Lewis.
Danny grew up in Royal Oak, Michigan, and graduated from Berkley High School. He married his high school sweetheart, Florence Carley, in 1965. They started a family and moved to Lapeer, Michigan. Danny worked at General Motors for fifteen years before he and Flo moved to West Branch, Michigan. During that time, they owned the KOA campground where they loved to hunt, fish, and have family gatherings. They moved to Sault Ste. Marie after purchasing King Pizza and operated the business for many years. Ultimately, Danny retired from Kewadin Casino as a shuttle driver but continued to enjoy golfing, hunting, fishing, and go camping with family and friends.
Danny is survived by his children, Carrie (Sean) Raynard of Sault Ste. Marie and Danny (Bernadette) Lewis of Oscoda, Michigan; grandchildren, Brooke, Jena, Bailey; great-grandchildren, Tate, Beau, Luke, Will, Anna, Jack, Drew; sisters, Debbie (Pete) Hallett of Arizona and Cheryl Schroeder of Wisconsin.
Danny is preceded in death by his wife, Florence Lewis; brother, Jay Lewis and parents, Eugene and Dorothy Lewis.
Per Danny's wishes, no services will be offered at this time.
Final resting place will be Riverside Cemetery
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made out to the Hospice of EUP, 308 W. 12th Avenue, Sault Ste. Marie, MI 49783.
Family Life Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements. Condolences may be left to the family at www.familylifefh.com.
