Danny Wayne Ogles, 75, of Talladega, Alabama, passed away on August 12, 2025, in Talladega surrounded by his family. He was born on September 16, 1949, in Jacksonville, Alabama, to the late Bernie Ogles and Hazel Ogden. Danny proudly served his country by enlisting in the United States Navy during the Vietnam conflict. Following his tour of duty, he dedicated his career to the law enforcement community, serving as a patrol officer, working at the state prison, and ultimately retiring from the Federal Correctional Institution in Talladega. A passionate and active member of the worldwide amateur radio community, Danny was known by his call sign, W4PIG. Through radio, he connected with people across the globe, forming lasting friendships. He enjoyed collecting firearms and spending time at the range target shooting. He was also well-known in his neighborhood for riding his Kawasaki Mule, a pastime that led to many warm connections with neighbors and friends. Danny was preceded in death by his father, Bernie Ogles; stepmother, Ruby Ogles; mother, Hazel Ogden; stepfather, Dave Ogden; and son, Chris Ogles. He is survived by his loving wife, Jane Ogles; sons, Sam Ogles (Brittney) and Daniel Ogles (Miranda); grandchildren, Brody Ogles, Judson Ogles, Chloe Drummond (Taylor), and Bella Bullock; brothers, Rickey Ogden and Benny Ogles; sister, Lisa Tate; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends, especially those in his amateur radio community. A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. in the main sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Talladega, 216 North Street East, Talladega, AL 35160. In lieu of flowers, Danny requested donations be made in his name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Danny will be remembered for his steady presence, quick wit, and generous spirit. Whether serving his country, protecting his community, making friends across the airwaves, or simply waving from his Kawasaki Mule, he lived with purpose and kindness. His life was a testament to godly service, friendship, and love, and his memory will continue to inspire all who knew him.
