Danny Lee Zapf, 70, of Anderson passed Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at Community Hospital in Anderson. He was born July 7, 1955 in Greenfield, the son of James L. and Donna Mae (Sparks) Zapf.

A 1973 graduate of Eastern Hancock High School, Danny owned and operated DLZ Construction Company for 30 years. He formerly farmed in surrounding counties and was a member of the Anderson Eagles Lodge. Danny never met a stranger and loved having conversations with anyone who would listen. He enjoyed traveling, especially cruising. More than anything, Danny loved spending time with his three sons and his grandchildren.

He leaves to cherish his memory two sons, Nathaniel L. (Mariana) Zapf of Cheverly, Maryland and Lucas (Jenna) Zapf of Guernsey, Wyoming; his mother, Donna Mae Zapf of Greenfield; brother, Monty J. (Melody) Zapf of Greenfield; grandchildren, Henry, Cash, Oliver and Benjamin and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, James L. Zapf; a son, Joseph D. Zapf; sister, Glenna Mae Zapf and a brother, Randy D. Zapf.

Private graveside services will be held for family and friends at a later date at McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson.  Memorial contributions may be directed to the Jeremiah and Tabbatha Zapf Memorial Scholarship Endowment c/o Hancock County Community Foundation.
