Jon J. Zapf

Jon J. Zapf, age 75 of Painted Post, NY passed away on Monday, November 4, 2024 at his home with his family at his side. Jon grew up in Kenosha, WI and then lived and had a career in OH before enjoying his retirement years in Cape Coral, FL and eventually Painted Post, NY.
Born on June 3, 1949 in Kenosha, WI, he was the son of Elaine (Villnow) and the late John Zapf. Jon was a graduate of the University of Toledo where he earned his Bachelors in Business with honors. He married Tammy Speaker on December 31, 1997. Jon worked as a supervisor for Chrysler for 35 years.
Jon will be remembered for his contagious laugh, outrageous antics, knowledge of all things car related, and his love of Wendys chocolate frosties. Jon spent the favorite of his years racing drag cars and going on adventures with his family. He was an impressive wrestler and gymnast in high school and remained an avid fan of both sports for the duration of his life.
Jon is survived by his loving wife, Tammy Zapf of Painted Post, NY; sons Nolan McNary and Jon Zapf Jr; sister Jody Ziehr; nieces Kaylee Sheckles (Corey), Brigget Speaker, Brittanie Speaker, and Bethany-Ann Brillhart; nephews Cory Ziehr and Brandon Speaker; and lifelong friends John Gradomski, Jack Potter, John Cisek, Mitch Krumenaker, and Duane Abata.
In addition to his father, Jon was predeceased by his son Richard Zapf, and brother-in-law Todd Speaker.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Carpenter's Funeral Home, 14 E. Pulteney St., Corning has been entrusted with the arrangements.
