Daphne Loretta Johnson

ARCHDALE- Daphne Loretta Bivens Johnson, 74, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 28, 2026.

She was born on March 30, 1951, in McDowell County, NC, a daughter of the late Cecil and Mildred Watkins Bivens. A resident of this area most of her life, she was a former member of Faith Baptist Church in Denton. Daphne enjoyed line dancing and going to the beach, her true love and passion was spending time with her Lord and family. She will be remembered as a Christian woman, who was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, and will be dearly missed. In addition to her parents, preceding her in death was a son, Michael Best, a sister, a brother, two nieces and a stepdaughter. She was also preceded in death by two very close friends of 62 years, and one of them was like a sister.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Gerald Johnson; her daughter, Lisa Bostic and her husband, Shuan; a stepdaughter, Cathy Cothran, a stepson, Lewis Johnson and his wife, Pam and a sister, Patricia Hulin. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Travis Edwards and his wife, Brittani, Tyler Edwads and his fiancé, Shelby, Kelli McDowell and her Husband, J.J., James Dobbins and his wife, Abbie and Logan Johnson and his wife, Jessica; her great grandchildren, Michael Edwards, Finnegan McDowell, Rosemary Dobbins and Rowan Dobbins.

A service to celebrate Daphne's life will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 1:00 pm, in the Chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, with Pastor Freddie Moretz officiating. Her family will receive friends from 12:00 pm until 12:50 p.m. on Saturday, at the funeral home, and following the service, at the residence.
