Darla Joan (Coultas) Collins, 66, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at home on June 9, 2024.
Darla was born on December 30, 1957, in Evansville, Indiana, the cherished daughter of Arthur "Art" Coultas, affectionately known as "Cowtown," and Jessie (Estes) Coultas. She grew up on a horse farm, where her love for horses flourished. Darla often reminisced about her joyful upbringing on the farm, which brought her immense happiness throughout her life.
A graduate of Tecumseh High School in Lynnville, Indiana, Darla was crowned Queen at her homecoming. She vividly remembered her first kiss, shared in front of the entire school, a moment she found both embarrassing and endearing, reflecting her lovable nature.
Darla dedicated 43 years of her career as an Insurance Agent at Springleaf, formerly known as American General. She was known for her exceptional spelling talents and impressed family and friends with her extensive knowledge.
Darla was married to her first husband, Donald Kemp, for 16 years. Together, they owned Kemp Construction and were blessed with their daughter, Kendall. Darla later met Kenny, with whom she shared 19 wonderful years filled with an abundance of love, adventure, and cherished memories.
Above all, Darla was a proud wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her love for her family was beyond measure, and she expressed this love in countless ways. Darla's vibrant spirit and joyfulness touched everyone who knew her, making her an extraordinary woman with a radiant presence.
Darla is survived by her loving husband Kenneth "Kenny" Collins, her daughter Kendall Harp; step-children Jennifer Collins, Brian Felstead and Holly Felstead; grandchildren Gunner and Kipton Harp; step-grandchildren Cameron and Sadie; siblings Phyllis Kirk and Faith Bentley; and numerous extended loving family. Darla was preceded in death by her parents Art and Jessie Coultas.
Honoring Darla's wishes, there will be no services.
