FARMINGTON - Darlene Louise Armstead of Farmington passed away unexpectedly at her home on January 24, 2025 at the age of 68. She was born on August 21, 1956 in Washington, Missouri to the late Bobbie Delbert Hodges and Ruby Lee May (Mason) Hodges. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Christina Bliss; a grandson, Shawn Militzer and her maternal grandmother, Effie Mason.
Darlene attended school at the Athena School in Desoto and also Bismarck High School. She completed courses at Mineral Area College and became a licensed CNA. Most of her adult life she was a professional care giver. Cats were her passion and she had dreamed of operating a cat rescue. Her cats were like children to her. Feeding the birds and hummingbirds and playing Hayday on her phone were some of her favorite pastimes. She loved taking day trips to unspecified destinations. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed having frequent barbeques for her family which gave her an excuse to spoil her grandchildren.
Survivors include her two children, Deborah Hodges and Bobby (Mandy) Hodges; five grandchildren, Michael Hodges, Devin Militzer, Logan Buckley, Emily Herbst and Olivia Herbst; one great grandson, Remi; a sister, Linda (David) Savage; a niece Carla (Ronald) Ludwig and long-time love of her life, Gary Liddell; She is also survived by nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and extended family and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. The family requests donations to be made to the funeral home to defray costs of Darlene's last expenses. Share your condolences and memories at cozeanfuneralhome.com.
