Darlene Bullard, 98, of Boone, Iowa, died on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Westhaven Community in Boone.
Darlene Jane (Blue) Bullard was born November 5, 1926, in Hampton, Iowa, the daughter of Earl and Ella (Woolridge) Blue. She married Douglas Ross Bullard at her parents' home in Hospers, Iowa, on August 17, 1948.
Darlene attended Omaha University in Omaha, Nebraska, and received her Teacher Certificate. She taught English and business classes.
Darlene was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and enjoyed her family spanning five generations. She was a faithful member of Central Christian Church.
Darlene is preceded in death by her husband, Douglas; parents, Earl and Ella Blue; brothers, Kenneth Blue and Donald Blue; and son-in-law, Thomas Martinez.
Darlene is survived by her children: Nancy Martinez of Santa Clara, UT, Carol (Duane) Cowan of Ames, IA, and Luther (Paula) of Clive, IA; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandsons.
Our family extends sincere thanks to nurses and staff at Westhaven and Suncrest Hospice for making her final days comfortable.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to Westhaven Community in Boone or Suncrest Hospice.
A private family graveside service will be at Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone at a later date.
