Darlene K. (Ruby) Palmeri, of Red Lion, passed from this life-to-life eternal with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at 7 am from her residence with her family by her side, at the age of 70. She was the loving wife of Torre L. Palmeri, of Red Lion, to whom she married on March 30th, 2021, and the late Joseph R. Myers.
She was born in Columbia, Lancaster County, on November 25, 1952, and was the daughter of the late Estella Grace Ruby. Darlene graduated from Red Lion High School, Class of 1970. She worked as a Teacher's Assistant in the Red Lion High School, and then for Project Search, assisting special needs children, retiring in 2015. She also worked at Michaels in York, for ten years, where she taught classes to children in creating crafts. Darlene was very crafty. She loved arts and crafts, especially painting. She is known for her very special and beautiful handmade cards, brightening the days of everyone who received one. She loved canning, volunteering at the Hearts for Hunger Food Pantry at Pleasant View Church, were she and her husband are very active members. Torre and Darlene attended Bible Study at the church and hosted Bible Study in their home. She was a very loving, kind and very generous lady, who donated not only her time if someone needed a hand, but also financially to many different organizations over the years. She was always there to lend a helping hand or an ear to listen to anyone who needed it. Her favorite things were spending time with the family, especially her grandchildren and spoiling them. She loved celebrating birthdays and Christmas. Her great sense of humor will always be cherished in the hearts of those closest to her.
Darlene leaves her husband, Torre, and four children, Leah M. Wilhelm of Red Lion and her husband Steven, Lisa K. Myers of Felton and her husband Joshua Knerr, Jason S. Palmeri of Manor, Texas, and his wife Neanna, and Audra M. Cabrera of York and her husband Joseph. She was the doting grandmother to six grandchildren: Deanna Wilhelm of Red Lion, Josie Chivers and Jax Knerr, both of Felton, Aida Cabrera and Koa Cabrera, both of York and Luna Cabrera of Wrightsville. Darlene has one sister, Karen Gemmill, and her husband Rick of New Freedom, along with nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to extend their condolences at the viewing, on Monday, May 15th, from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. Cremation will follow and a Memorial Service to Honor and Praise Darlene's Life, along with burial will be private and at the convenience of the family, at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be offered to: Pleasant View Church, c/o: Hearts for Hunger, 10384 Winterstown Road, Red Lion, PA 17356.

So very sad to hear of Darlene's passing. What a wonderful co-worker and friend she was. We traveled many times together in our years working for LIU #12 and in classrooms. The last time I saw Darlene she introduced me to her husband and even though she was dealing with a cancer diagnosis and treatment she said I am truly very happy and blessed. I am sincerely devastated she did not get to have more of those years.
