Darlene Orlando Rause
November 18, 1950 – August 30, 2024
Darlene Orlando Rause lived an active and adventurous life and passed away peacefully on Friday, August 30, surrounded by her family and loved ones. Darlene was born on November 18, 1950, in Wausaukee, WI, to Felix and Kathleen (DeMars) Orlando.
Darlene graduated with her bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and her master's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She went on to have a dedicated career in Social Work, where she supported children in foster care in Wood County and statewide. Later, she worked for the United Way of South Wood County as the first Volunteer Coordinator where she built and grew an established and thriving volunteer program.
On November 6, 1976, Darlene married Thomas Rause. They were married for 30 years until Tom's passing in 2006. Together, they shared a love for travel and exploring new places, creating lifelong memories. Darlene and Tom were full of pride for their two children, Bryan and Kathleen. She found an immense amount of joy in watching her children grow.
She spent the last 17 years of her life with her partner, Bill Dove. Their greatest days were filled with travel, kayaking, biking, golfing, and gardening. In addition to sharing their hobbies, they especially loved spending time on the water and annual trips up north.
Darlene was preceded in death by her husband and parents. She is survived by her son Bryan Rause; daughter, Kathleen Rause; partner Bill Dove; and grand puppy Ruthie.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Ronald McDonald House Charities, St Jude Children's Research Hospital or Shriner's Hospital for Children.
Funeral Services will be held at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 10. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. A burial will take place immediately following the funeral service.

I am so sorry for your loss. Darlene was a college friend; and more recently we connected through a Stevens Point kayaking group. She was beautiful inside and out. I will miss our kayak chats and her ready smile.
