Darlene Betty Slater, 86, of Wabash, Indiana, died at 2:46 pm, Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Autumn Ridge Rehabilitation Center in Wabash. She was born on August 17, 1938, in Wabash, Charles and Rachel (Barnes) Easterday.
Darlene was a homemaker and also delivered papers on a motor route for The Wabash Plain Dealer. She loved people and singing. Darlene also enjoyed playing bingo, and going to rummage sales.
She is survived by two sons, Bob (Teri) Sluss and Mark (Vicki Gray) Sluss; and daughter-in-law, Sheila Sluss, all of Wabash; 9 grandchildren;19 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren; brother, Arthur Easterday and sister, Shirley Stacy, both of Wabash. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Bill Sluss; four brothers and three sisters.
Private family services and burial will be in Memorial Lawns Cemetery, Wabash, with Rev. Charlie Easterday officiating. Arrangements by Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, Wabash.
Preferred memorial is Animal Shelter of Wabash County.
