Michael Wayne Hurst

Michael Wayne Hurst, 52, of Wabash, Indiana, went to be with his Lord and Savior at 10:10 pm, Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at Vernon Health and Rehab in Wabash. He was born on May 26, 1973, in Wabash, to Terry and Deloise (Pelphrey) Hurst.
Michael was a 1991 graduate of Wabash High School. He was involved in ARC of Wabash County, Pathfinder Day Service and also competed in Special Olympics. Michael loved going to church, listening to music, especially guitar and drums, playing ball, jumping rope, drinking pop, and going "bye bye." He also enjoyed his teddy bear, and his cowboy hat, but would wear any hat, particularly if you had one on and he didn't.
He is survived by his mother, Deloise Hurst of Roann, Indiana; sister, Tammy (Chuck) Douglass of LaFontaine, Indiana; nephews and niece, Caleb Hurst, of Bluffton, Indiana, Zoey Larson, of North Manchester, Indiana, and Brenden Simmons and Zachary Simmons, both of LaFontaine, and great-nephews, Jamie Atlas Hurst and Lance Atticus Hurst, both of Huntington, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his father, and grandparents, Otis and Nina Hurst, and Richard and Nancy Pelphrey.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 13, 2025 at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash with Pastor Tim Webb officiating. Burial will be in Friends Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call 9:30-11:00 a.m., Monday, at the funeral home.
