Darlene E. Thode

Darlene E. Thode, age 92, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 22, 2024, at home surrounded by family.
Darlene was born on October 10, 1932, in Whitewater, WI to Charles and Winifred (Querns) Clark. She graduated from Racine Agricultural High School. Darlene married Richard Thode on 10/6/1952. She went to Germany to be with her new husband while he served in the Army. When they returned, they spent most of their married life in Muskego Wisconsin.
Darlene worked for several employers however, she was most proud of her time working at the Veterans Administration. She was always willing to fight for a cause for any veteran in need of anything.
Darlene enjoyed sewing and created many homemade gifts for her children, grandchildren and community. Providing many items for care at Hilltop Assisted Living while Richard was a resident. She was a card player and an avid Scrabble player and very difficult to beat! Up until her last week, she did the daily crossword puzzle.
Darlene is survived by her children, Cindy Hayden, Renee and Matt Kowalik, and Lynn Vera and Dave. She had 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 4 great, great grandchildren with another on the way!
She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard W. Thode, her parents and all 9 siblings.
Darlene had a strong faith even at difficult times. Her favorite phrase was "Count your Blessings".
Mom is finally at peace and is with Dad whom she missed immensely.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
