Darlene Jean Whytsell age 81, of Holmesville, Ohio passed away peacefully January 3, 2024, at Sycamore Run Nursing Home following a period of declining health.
She was born August 20, 1942, in Punxsutawney, PA and was the daughter of Eugene Bodenhorn and Geraldine Catarouche. Darlene was a graduate of Punxsutawney High School. Darlene married Vic Whytsell in 1983 and he preceded her in death in 2016. She worked at Wooster Sportswear early in her career, later working at Akro in Holmesville as a sewer before retiring in 1986.
Darlene loved to craft, knitting afghans, scarves, blankets, making Christmas ornaments and coloring. She loved collecting stuffed bears and watching Jeff Gordon and the Dallas Cowboys. Darlene enjoyed traveling with her husband and spending time with family.
She is survived by her children: Ken (Robin) Wagner of Warsaw, Ohio and Dorinda (Denver) Hoff of Wooster, Ohio; grandchildren: Mallory Wagner Raines of Streetsboro, Jennifer Wagner of Florida, Mark (Alisha) Whytsell of Millersburg, Matt (Elise) Whytsell of Millersburg, Mandy (Luke) Houchins of Wooster, Dustin (Bonnie) Hoff of Wooster; 12 great grandchildren and her brother Wes Bodenhorn of Punxsutawney, PA.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, husband Vic, stepson Mark Whytsell, and brothers Tony and Lee Bodenhorn.
A private family service will take place at a later date.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Sycamore Run Nursing Home and Joe and Nila Specht for taking care of our mother for many years.
