Darrell Ray Branaum, age 72, of Loudon, Tennessee, passed away on November 6, 2025.
Darrell spent many wonderful years in Rockford, Illinois, where he attended West High School. In 1979, he returned to Loudon, Tennessee, which he proudly called home for the remainder of his life. A dedicated and skilled machinist, Darrell spent his career with Berkline, where his hard work and dependability earned him the respect of his coworkers.
An Army Veteran, Darrell served his country with honor. Known affectionately by many as "Cowboy," he was a true animal lover and advocate. He was also a passionate fisherman, talented musician, and someone who found joy in laughter, both sharing it and inspiring it in others. Those who knew Darrell will remember his generous heart, kind spirit, and sense of humor that could light up any room.
Darrell is preceded in death by his father, James Kenneth Branaum; his mother, Edith Elizabeth Tallent; his sister, Tamara Elizabeth Branaum; and his brother, David Marvin Branaum.
He is survived by his sisters, Connie Reinert (Mike) and Rhonda Hughes (Sid), as well as eight beloved nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the team at UT Hospice for their compassionate care, as well as to Darrell's special neighbor, Jennifer Ridner, and his longtime friend, Tommy Fencher, for their friendship and support.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to an animal advocacy group of your choosing, in honor of Darrell's lifelong love for animals.
The family will announce service details at a later date.
