Darryl Douglas Jackson

Darryl Douglas Jackson, 77, of Kingston, TN passed away peacefully on Friday, March 14, 2025, at Roane Medical Center.
Doug was born in Pikeville, KY on June 23, 1947, son of the late David Douglas Jackson and Geraldine Porter Jackson. He is also preceded in death by his sister Pamela Jackson Buttram, daughter Kristin Jackson Cupp, son, Joshua Douglas Jackson and last but not least the love of his life for over 50 years Jayne Russell Jackson.
Doug is survived by son David Jackson (Jessica), sister-in-law Patricia Russell Rowan and husband Patrick. Grandchildren include Hayden Cupp, Cade and Selby Jackson all of Kingston, TN.
Doug graduated from Roane County High School in 1965. He then served in the U. S. Army from 1966 to 1972, completing two tours in Vietnam. After returning home from many years of service in the Army, Doug worked and retired from Y-12 in Oak Ridge. Doug was an avid Kentucky Wildcats fan as well as a Cincinnati Reds Fan. He played an important role in youth sports in Roane County.
After the unexpected and tragic loss of their youngest son Joshua to a drug overdose, Doug and Jayne founded the Roane County Anti-Drug Coalition (RCADC). Doug and his wife Jayne made it their mission that Josh's death would not be in vain. They worked tirelessly within the community and schools to tell Josh's story in hopes that other families would not have to experience such great loss. Today RCADC has grown into an invaluable resource to our community due to the commitment and drive of director and family friend Sarah Harrison. The Jackson family would like to extend a special thank you for the amazing care of Doug during his illness by the Roane County EMT services, Roane Medical Center, Specialty Select of Fort Sanders, Signature Healthcare of Rockwood, and Hospice care.
The family will receive friends Thursday, March 20, 2025, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Kingston United Methodist Church. Celebration of Life at 7:00 p.m. with Sue Lynn Johnson officiating. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the RCADC at 151 E. Race St. Kingston, TN 37763. Kyker Funeral home of Kingston is serving the Jackson Family.
