Daryl Dahl Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Summit Funeral & Cremation on Jan. 30, 2026.
Daryl Jon Dahl, age 81, of Burnsville, Minnesota, was born on March 27, 1944, in Duluth, MN, and passed away peacefully at home on January 22, 2026, after a courageous battle with prostate cancer.

Daryl was the son of Caroline and Lawrence Dahl. He grew up in Edina and graduated from Edina High School in 1962. Following high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He later attended Dunwoody Institute, where he earned his Radio Mechanics degree.

On June 17, 1967, Daryl married the love of his life, Susan Margaret Carlson, at Church of the Epiphany. Together they shared 58 years of marriage filled with love, family, and countless memories.

Daryl built a long and dedicated career as an A&P mechanic, beginning with North Central Airlines and later retiring from Delta Airlines. He was well respected for his skill, work ethic, and commitment, and a Union Member of IAM. Known affectionately as "Double D" to his friends, he was a man who valued loyalty, laughter, and time spent with those he loved.

Daryl had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and simple pleasures. He especially enjoyed summer trips to Lake Ada, fishing, golfing, playing softball, darts, pool, snowmobiling with his Over the Hill Night Riders Club, tending to his garden, and was a Third-Degree member of the #4914 Knights of Columbus. Above all, he treasured time spent with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Caroline; and his brothers, Stuart and Larry.

Daryl is survived by his loving wife, Susan; his brother, Kurt Dahl (Linda), Sister-in-Law, Dianne Dahl; his sons, Michael (Lori), Scott (Nancy), Jon (Chris), and Kevin (Brooke); and his grandchildren, Samantha (Ryan), Cassidy (Jake), Jacob (Kenzie), Austin (Eloisa), Corey (Abby), Alison, Mitchell (Kendra), Carly, Sara, Summer, and Jackson. He is also survived by his ten great-grandchildren, Ethan, Rylee, Raelynn, Jasmine, Carter, Caden, Adalynn, Sophia, Brynn, and Caleb, along with a many other family members who will miss him dearly.

On February 12, 2026, a visitation at 10:00 and funeral service at 11:00 will be held at Church of the Risen Savior, 1501 E. County Road 42, Burnsville, MN 55306. Burial at Fort Snelling National Cemetery will be held at a later date.

Daryl will be remembered for his steady presence, generous heart, and the deep love he had for his family and friends.
