Daryl was born January 25, 1959 in Huntington Park, Los Angeles County, California. He moved with his family to Early, Texas in 1960 and went to school here in then went to DeLeon his sophomore year and graduated from DeLeon high school. He was an all-state lineman in football and they went to state in 1975, basketball and track. Daryl worked 40 years in construction with his brother, Mark. They both were tall men and when they hung sheetrock it was as if they were dancing. He was very out going at 6'5" and everyone knew him as Red. He was a big Dallas Cowboy fan but took it hard when they played the Eagles. He loved to hunt, fish and play golf. His whole world was wrapped up with his family and his wife, Amy. They were inseparable, playing with his dogs, Willie, Spot and Luther and a few cats. Daryl was baptized with his sister at Early First Baptist Church. He had a very soft heart for his nephews, nieces and animals and occasionally would wear his feelings on his sleeve. He loved all of his nephews and nieces as if they were his own children.
Daryl was survived by his beloved wife, Amy Smith Ward of Brownwood, Texas; brother, Keith Ward of Augusta, Georgia; sister, Becky Swanner and husband Tim of Gorman, Texas; sister-in-law, Sandra Ward of Early, Texas; his German shepherd, Luther.; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
