David Abrego

David Abrego, age 66, of Corpus Christi, Texas. Passed away suddenly leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to his family and friends. His unexpected passing has left a profound void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He was born on September 10, 1958, in Chicago, Illinois, to Jose Deleon Abrego and Emma G. Abrego. David was raised with strong values and a deep sense of responsibility. He graduated from Foy H. Moody High School in 1977. He later worked for several years in the oil field before he dedicated 37 years of faithful service to the City of Corpus Christi, retiring as a Utility Line Locator in 2019. He was married to the love of his life, Cynthia Becerra Abrego, for 31 wonderful years. Together they shared a life filled with deep devotion, laughter and quiet joy. He enjoyed gardening and taking long walks with Cindy and found peace and fulfillment in the simple, beautiful moments they shared. He cherished weekends spent barbecuing, watching classic karate movies, sharing laughter over board games and bingo with nieces and nephews, and preparing his legendary tacos- simple joys that will be lovingly remembered forever. A man of integrity, warmth, and quiet strength, David was deeply committed to those he loved and his community. His warmth, loyalty, and gentle spirit will be dearly missed and forever remembered. He was preceded in death by his father, Jose Deleon Abrego, and his sister Mary Jane Abrego De La Paz. He is survived by his loving wife, Cindy Becerra Abrego, his mother Emma G. Abrego, his siblings Juan Abrego (Rachel), Nelia Abrego Acuna (Joe), and Linda Abrego, as well as numerous beloved nieces and nephews. The family extends heartfelt thanks to all of David's neighbors, especially Paul and Susie Tijerina for their kindness and compassion in his final moments. Their efforts and care will always be remembered and deeply appreciated by his family.
