David Atencio, age 68, passed away peacefully surrounded by family in Dixon, New Mexico, on May 8, 2025. He was born on November 4, 1956, in Leadville, Colorado.
David touched many lives and had a special gift for bringing positivity, laughter, and enlightenment into any room he entered. He treated everyone he met like family. A talented guitar player, and an avid music lover, David was also a pillar of his community.
David was preceded in death by his parents George and Lorraine Atencio.
He is survived by his children Felicia Rodriguez (husband James) and Matthew Atencio (wife Crystal); grandchildren Ukiah Waggoner, Dion Rodriguez, Julian Rodriguez and Sonny Atencio. David is also survived by brothers George (wife Sandra), Robert (wife Karen) and Richard (wife Kathy) Atencio; sisters Nancy Ferguson (husband Russell), Linda Meade (husband Roger), Tina Vigil (husband Andrew) and Ruth Archunde (husband John).
A Celebration of Life for David will be held at Saint Anthony’s Church in Dixon, New Mexico, on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at 11:00 am. Reception to follow at the Dixon Senior Center.
