David B. Ace, 85, of Owego, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2024, at the Mercy House of the Southern Tier. Born on October 25, 1938, Dave's journey through life was marked by his unwavering spirit of generosity and kindness, traits that endeared him to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A proud graduate of Newark Valley High School, Dave's commitment to service was evident early on. His patriotism shone brightly as he served his country in the US Air Force from 1958 to 1962. Following his military service, Dave returned to his roots and continued to assist in the operation of Family Farm, a testament to his hard work and dedication to the land he loved so dearly. Dave was also a former employee of Tioga Gardens, Owego, Newark Valley Central School District and the Newark Valley Golf Course.
Dave's devotion to his family was paramount. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Ed and Beth (Schubmehl) Ace as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Marian and George E. Ace, Dave was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ada Ruth Ace, his sons, Scott and Joseph Ace, his sister, Shirley Callahan and brother, George Ace. The legacy of his love and the values he instilled live on through his family, who remember him as the cornerstone of their lives.
A man of faith, Dave was a longtime active member of the Newark Valley United Methodist Church. His belief was the guiding force in his life, and he lived it through his actions, always embodying the Christian principles of love and charity.
The outdoors was Dave's sanctuary, where he found peace in the simple pleasures of gardening, fishing, and hunting. His hands, often soiled with the earth he tended, were never too busy to aid a neighbor or a friend in need. Dave's selflessness was legendary; he was always the first to offer help and the last to ask for anything in return.
Those who knew Dave will remember a man who was loving, friendly, and selfless. His warm smile and hearty laughter were infectious, and his ability to connect with people from all walks of life was truly remarkable. Dave's presence was a source of comfort and joy to many, and his absence will be deeply felt by the community he so cherished.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday July 20, 2024, at 11 AM at the Broadway Cemetery, 2027 Day Hollow Road, Owego, where military honors will be accorded, and a celebration of Dave's life will take place with Rev. Jeff Hale officiating. Memories and Condolences can be shared in his guestbook at www.macphersonfh.com. The family requests no flowers, however, for those wishing, memorial contributions may be made to the Mercy House of the Southern Tier, 212 N. McKinley Ave, Endicott, NY 13760 in memory of David B Ace. The family is under the caring assistance of the MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley.

Dave and I lived 1/2 mile apart on the farms. We played sports together and shared a lot of happy times and laugh. On behalf of the Class of 1957 we send our condolences to his family. Lost but never forgotten.
