Obituary of David William Ballengee
David William Ballengee, 78, passed away on March 4, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on July 18, 1946, in Teaneck, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Everett and Doris Ballengee. David grew up in Ridgefield Park and graduated from Ridgefield Park High School in 1964. He went on to earn his undergraduate degree from NJIT and later received his master's degree in electrical engineering from Rutgers University.
On March 15, 1975, David married the love of his life, Suzanne Ballengee. Together, they shared 50 wonderful years of marriage and raised their beloved twins, David and Amy.
David dedicated 35 years of his career to JCP&L as an Environmental Engineer. Even after retirement, his passion for his work led him to serve another 15 years with the Board of Public Utilities for the State of New Jersey, where he continued applying his expertise in electrical engineering.
A devoted parishioner of Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church in Long Valley, New Jersey, David lived his life with kindness, generosity, and a deep commitment to his family and faith. He was a hardworking man who took joy in helping others, always striving to make life a little easier for those around him. He had a passion for working with his hands, whether tending to yard work, maintaining cars, or honing his craft in woodworking. A true handyman, David could fix just about anything and was always willing to lend a helping hand.
David was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Suzanne Ballengee; his son, David Ballengee, and his wife Tracy; his daughter, Amy Ballengee; and his cherished grandchildren, Marshall Ballengee, John Collier, James Phillips, and Erin Phillips. He was predeceased by his parents, Everett and Doris Ballengee.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in David's memory to Grace Hospice, in gratitude for the exceptional care they provided during this difficult time.
David's legacy of love, hard work, and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
