Obituary of Thomas Leslie Alpaugh Sr.

Thomas Leslie Alpaugh Sr., 72, passed away peacefully at his home following a brief illness.

Born in Newton, New Jersey, Thomas was the son of the late Hannah and Donald Alpaugh. He was raised in Washington, New Jersey, where he attended local schools and graduated from Warren Hills Regional High School in 1973.

Thomas proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1975 to 1977. On September 9, 1977, he married the love of his life, his beloved wife Elaine (née Farley). Together, they built a life and raised their family in Washington, New Jersey, welcoming two children, Thomas Jr. and Lena.

Thomas worked as a commercial truck driver for most of his life, spending many years with the Hostess Company delivering favorite treats throughout the Lehigh Valley. Known for his warm personality and quick wit, Thomas had a true gift for making people laugh and never met a stranger-he was truly everybody's friend.

A lifelong golfer, Thomas enjoyed playing whenever he could. He was also a devoted New York Giants fan, proudly collecting jerseys and memorabilia over the years. At the end of the day, he could often be found unwinding at Scotty's, sharing laughs and stories with his many dear friends.

Thomas is survived by his loving wife, Elaine Alpaugh; his son, Thomas L. Alpaugh Jr.; his daughter, Lena Correll, and her husband, Steve; his brother, Kevin Alpaugh, and his wife, Stacey; his brother, Danny Alpaugh, and his wife, Jackie; and his sister, Barbara Alpaugh. He is also remembered fondly by many extended family members and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, Donald and Hannah Alpaugh; his brother, Donald Alpaugh Jr.; and his brother, Johnny Alpaugh.

Family and friends are invited to attend memorial visitation on Friday, January 23, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Knoll-DeVoe Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 142 West Washington Avenue, Washington, NJ 07882. Memorial words of remembrance will be shared immediately following the visitation to honor Thomas's life.
