David Bates Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kane Funeral Home & Cremation Services - Easton on Dec. 29, 2025.
It is with great sadness that the family of David "Dave" Franklin Bates, 61, of Easton, MA, announces his passing. He died peacefully at home on December 24th, 2025, from complications of stage IV pancreatic cancer.
Dave was born on April 6, 1964, at Brockton Hospital to Herbert Franklin Jr. and Marie Bates. He was the younger brother of the late Joyce Bates, who died last March 2024 of stage IV breast cancer, a devoted husband to Anna Carmina "Reena" Bates for 38 years, and the father of Matthew "Matt," Abigail "Abby," and favorite child, 10-year-old cockapoo, Rosie Cotton Bates.
Born and raised in Brockton, MA, Dave earned his BA in Economics from Boston College and MSA in Accounting from Bentley University. He went on to work as a CPA at Fidelity Investments for over 25 years. After retiring in 2021, He devoted his leisure time to travel, reading, writing, watching Formula 1 racing and enjoying quality family time. He will be remembered for his kindness, humor, intelligence, and financial responsibility.
Besides his wife and children, Dave is survived by Matt's fiancé, Kacee Womack, of Greenville, NY, and Abby's husband, Joseph "Joe" Malone of Attleboro, MA, and first cousins, John Marshall and his wife, Jan Eastman, of Peacham, VT, and Kevin and Marybeth Joyce of Hanover, MA.
The wake will be from 4-7 pm on Monday, January 5th, at Kane Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 605 Washington St., Easton. The funeral will be on Tuesday, January 6th, at 11 am at St. James Church, 560 Page St., Stoughton. Interment will be held privately at a later date.
