David passed away on July 4, 2025, at his home. He was 76 years old. David Rex Belanger was born November 8, 1949, in Saginaw, Michigan, son to the late Rex and Esther (Thiele) Belanger. He was married to Olga Martha Harriet (Goodside) Belanger on November 16, 1968, and she predeceased him on August 29, 2022. He is also survived by his children, Elizabeth (Matthew) Bailey of Saginaw, MI, David (Amy) Belanger of Prudenville, MI; his grandchildren, Tiffany (Paul) Warren, Shawn Belanger, Abigail Belanger, Emily Belanger, and Destiny Riley-Bailey; his great-grandson, Ben Warren; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and dear friends. David was predeceased by his parents, Rex and Esther, his wife, Olga, his grandson, Stephen Belanger, and his sisters, Diane Belanger and Susan Hicks.
David was drafted on May 15, 1968, serving in the United States Army, during the Vietnam War, from 1968 to 1970. He was attached to the American Division, 1st Calvary, stationed in Chulai. David received 3 Bronze Service Stars, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal Ribbon, along with Unit Awards. He was honorably discharged on May 14, 1970.
David was a past member of the V.F.W. and the Vietnam Post 250.
Prior to his retirement, David was self-employed as owner and operator of Dave's Land Clearing and Firewood, and he also was a truck driver for several trucking companies. Dave lived in Oakley from 1970 to 1999, before moving to Saginaw.
His hobbies and past times included, traveling to the U.P., going to concerts, celebrating family events, he enjoyed talking with friends and family.
In accordance with family wishes, cremation has taken place. David will be laid to rest next to his parents with a Military service at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 22, 2025, in Riverside Cemetery (east side of M-52), 9701 W. Belle Ave., St. Charles, MI. Military Honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army and American Legion Post #439.
