David Gerard Bohmann, born August 10, 1951 was welcomed to his forever home where he has been reunited with his "Bug" Cynthia Lynn Bohmann, on Saturday February 25, 2023. David is survived by his daughters Bethany Bohmann, Alissa Bohmann, and Samantha (Aaron) Weyhrich, sons Joel Bohmann (Cari Cassellius) and Andrew (Kim) Bohmann. Adored and appreciated by his "children in love" Michelle Bohmann, Robin Stolarczyk, and Daronn Nathaniel. David held many titles in his life, from machine operator to Sunday School teacher to Driving Instructor, but his favorite role was being a father and Papa. He loved nothing more than spending time with his adult children and grandchildren. Whether it was golf outings, going to a race, watching his grandchildren's basketball and football games or ballet recitals, playing "this little piggy" or reading a book to the little ones, he enjoyed the time spent with family. As Papa, he was treasured by his grandchildren Avante' Bohmann, Josiah and Isaiah Nathaniel, Dakota Bohmann; Caleb Madrid, Ethan and Anthony Bohmann; AJ, Nicky, and Georgia Acompanado; Grace, Ava, and Judah Weyhrich; Grayson and Josie Bohmann and Sam Cassellius; and grand-dog Charlie. He will be deeply missed by his mother Virginia Weldon, sisters, Christine (Mark) Zuelzke, Ray (Jim) Valaske, Debbie (Tom), Howard and Lisa Braun, Mary (Bill) Gruber, as well as his many devoted nieces and nephews, and cousins; brothers-in-law Gary (Tammy) Burkee, Jeff (Cathy) Burkee, Robert (Phyllis) Burkee; sisters-in-law Christine Dolhun, Marin Burkee and Janice (Jerry) Zimmerman; Ted Dolhun Sr., and his very close friend Dave (Kelly) Brown. He was preceded in death by his wife Cynthia L. Bohmann, father and mother-in-law Robert W. (Geraldine) Burkee and numerous brothers and sisters.
An Alumnus of West Allis Central High School, David continued his education for two years at UW- LaCrosse, before entering the workforce at Mellowes Co., David remained at Mellowes for 30 years followed by about 12 years at KHS, with many part-time additional jobs in between and on top of those two long tenured jobs. In the midst of all of that working, David always made time for some weekend (sometimes longer like the trip to Kentucky) camping trips with the family. It wasn't until after his wife Cindi passed that David officially retired and was finally able to give back to himself by doing things he loved. He spent time watching his old westerns on TV and recently his adult children got him hooked on Yellowstone. He watched all the episodes along with the 1923 series and 1883 Series (in a short amount of time that we joked about). He was also happy to recently catch up with some old racing buddies. In addition to his old western television shows and racing, David was also a very proud Harley Davidson motorcycle owner.
Everyone understands when building a physical home, the most important part is the foundation. When thinking of the "Bohmann home," David was that foundation, always supporting, carrying the weight, and unmovable. He did not say much, but when he did, he commanded attention. He did not show much emotion, but we all knew he loved us dearly and would do anything to help however he could. His absence will create an immeasurable void to all that loved him.
Funeral Services will be held at Harder Funeral Home, Tuesday, March 7 at 11:00 AM. Visitation for family and friends at the Funeral Home from 9:30 AM until time of service. Committal to follow service at Highland Memorial Park.
