David (Dave) Lee Boots, 70, son of Leonard & Saundra (Haden) Boots, was born October 12, 1954 in Jefferson, Iowa. He passed away Monday, January 13, 2025 in a vehicle accident due to medical causes near Earlham, Iowa.
David graduated from Adel High School in 1973. He attended Iowa State Farm Operations course for two winter quarters. He made his home in Dallas County and worked as farm manager at Dallas County Care Facility for many years. On July 24, 2004, he married Johanna Cross in Panora, Iowa, whom he met in 1998. David raised horses, pigs, and cattle. He loved giving his grandchildren rides on the Kubota or tractor and watching them climb hay bales. John Deere tractors, his dogs Gracie & Tye, Chevy trucks, the Iowa Hawkeyes, and most of all his grandchildren, were his most favorite hobbies.
David was a member of the Dallas County Fair Board for many years, I.A.S.C. Past President, 4-H member for nine years, and during the Iowa State Fair in the 1980's, he did the mounted horse patrol.
He is survived by his wife, Johanna Boots of Redfield; sons, Shane (Lacey) Boots of Clive; Eric (Stacey) Cochran of Jacksonville, FL; and Kye (Jen) Cross of Ankeny; daughter, Emelie (Donny) Cross of Perry; grandchildren, Motley, Holland, Noah, and Brixton, with another baby boy on the way; sisters, Debra (Tod) Contner of Rippey and Diane (Denny) Foster of Lake of the Ozarks; and nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial services will be 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at the Twigg Funeral Home, Panora. Visitation will be Monday, January 20, 2025 from 5-7 P.M. at the funeral home. Private burial of his cremains will be in the West Cemetery, Panora.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to the Dallas County Fair Board.
